Fixed Rate Mortgages August 2008

August 2008 - Rates on fixed-rate mortgages fell for the week ending Aug. 21, while rates on adjustable-rate mortgages were stable or up slightly, Freddie Mac said today in its weekly Primary Mortgage Market Survey.

Rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.47 percent with an a verage 0.7 point, down from 6.52 percent last week and 6.52 percent a year ago. The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6 percent with an average 0.7 point, down from 6.07 percent a week ago, and 6.18 percent a year ago.

Five-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs) averaged 5.99 percent with an average 0.6 point, down from 6.02 percent last week and 6.34 percent a year ago. One-year Treasury-indexed ARMs averaged 5.29 percent with an average 0.5 point, up from 5.18 percent last week and 5.6 percent a year ago.  read more »

Washington -- Interest rates for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages declined in the United States this week, Freddie Mac reported Thursday.

At 5.85, the average 30-year fixed interest rate dropped slightly from last week's average of 5.87 percent with mortgages including an average of 0.4 points, down from last week's 0.5 points. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.16 percent a year ago, the report said.

Fifteen-year fixed rate mortgages gained during the week ending March 27, averaging 5.34 percent with an average of 0.4 points. A week ago 15-year fixed rate mortgages averaged 5.27 percent, while a year ago they averaged 5.86 percent, the weekly report said.  read more »

U.S. mortgage rates decline slightly

Washington -- Interest rates for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages in the United States dropped slightly in the week ending Feb. 7, Freddie Mac reported Thursday.

The average 30-year fixed interest rate was 5.67 percent with an average of 0.4 points for the week, the federally-supported mortgage lender said. The rate was slightly lower than the previous week's 5.68 percent.

For the same week in 2008, 30-year fixed rate mortgages averaged 6.28 percent in the United States.

Fifteen-year fixed rate mortgages also declined, with an average interest rate of 5.15 percent and 0.4 points, Freddie Mac said. In the previous week, the average was 5.17 percent and in the same week of 2008 15-year fixed rate mortgages averaged 5.32 percent.  read more »
